Compared to other species humans spend an extraordinarily long time as children. This is due to the role of the brain in human development and the importance of learning. Most mammals act on instinct, human human beings rely to a great extent of prior knowledge. Human babies are dependent on caregivers making them vulnerable. How does environment affect babies' development and in some cases, survival.
To have a stimulating environment a baby has to have a wide variety of things to see, taste, smell, hear, and touch. These things enhance the brain's development. An environment that is lacking in stimulation has fewer or weaker connections in the brain and slow development. Like language, if a child is not exposed to language and language is not practiced or spoken there will be less connections in the brain.

ReplyDeleteEnvironment plays a role in a baby's development in a significant way. A stimulating environment helps the baby's brain develop connections and have improved critical thinking capabilities. The lack of a stimulating environment can inhibit the development of these connections causing the child to have difficulties in areas that the child being exposed to these stimulating environments.
ReplyDeleteA stimulating environment enhances brain development, while an environment lacking in stimulation may cause weaker brain connections and delayed development in other areas.
ReplyDeleteWOWZA GREAT ANSWER FRIEND.
DeleteA stimulating environment can help a baby's brain develop. An area lacking the factors for stimulation can cause the baby's brain and other areas to develop slower.
ReplyDeleteBabies need to be able to see, taste, smell, hear and touch to develop normally. A child lacking in these things may not make the right connections and their development may be slower than normal. An environment lacking these things will cause the child to have poor development. A child isn't born with many skills and needs to be with someone who is going to be able to teach them things.
ReplyDeleteA baby/child needs stimulation to help the brain develop. Children who do not get stimulation may be delayed in brain development. For example, speaking to your baby/child is very important because they are not born with language skills. Exposing them to as much language as possible will help them develop language. Children who are never exposed will not learn or develop this skill.
ReplyDeleteGood example!
DeleteIf a child has a stimulating environment, it's five senses will develop. A child also learns from watching adults and caregivers. However, if an adult always does everything for the child, they will never learn things for themselves. If a child drops their toy and you constantly grab it for them, they will not learn how to retrieve it themselves. If you mouth feed your child and never let them try eating on their own, they will not learn to eat independently. The same idea goes throughout adolescence; if you do a child's laundry they won't learn to do it by themselves.
ReplyDeleteAn environment lacking in stimulation can result in fewer or weaker connections in the brain and delayed or slow development in other ares. Infants aren't born with language skills. If the child is not exposed to language and not encouraged to speak during this time, there will be fewer connections in the brain. This can delay normal language development.
ReplyDeleteA babies environment can effect physical, emotional, social and intellectual. With a "good" environment children will start to learn basic skills. They will learn how to express his or her feelings, act appropriately with people, and other necessary skills. But if a child grows up in a "bad environment babies may not get all the basic skills they need to survive. For example if a child is made to stay in isolation they will not learn basic social, emotional or intellectual needs.
